Passion

Today, I just want to ask one question, What are you passionate about? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to do the one thing you've always daydreamed about? That perfect job, to afford that one trip you've always dreamed of since high school, to fit into that little black dress, to be the runner you've always wanted to be, to rock the itsy bitsy baby in the NICU, or to do the grocery shopping for your senior or sick neighbors? you get the idea.

Unsure where to begin? How about starting out as a volunteer? I remember needing job experience and having a strong desire to become an attorney but I didn't know where to begin, one day I decided to go the the court house to find out. I stopped at the information desk and I asked, I would like to do some volunteer work here at the courthouse do you need a volunteer? Well, with more words because I tend to be long winded but you get the idea. My first job after graduating from college was at the court house where I volunteered. Get it?

Every time you turn on the news there seem to be one more gray depressing story that seem to drag all the joy from your heart. To that I say, turn off the TV for a minute or 60, or 120 or for good, get your old, better yet, commit to becoming a little happier, get some newness in your spirit and make a decision to start living and making a difference. Let today be the day you find out what that burn in the inner walls of your chest is all about. OK, after you find out that, that burn really is heart burn, dig a little deeper to discover the weight that consumes your every thought and keeps you up at night, is really an unfulfilled need that can be met by helping others.

To discover your hidden talents, use this link http://www.1-800-volunteer.org/1800Vol/OpenIndexAction.do if you are in the Prince William County area, I've made it even easier for you, use this link http://www.1-800-volunteer.org/1800Vol/voluntary-action-center-prince-william to help you decide where you can begin in service as a volunteer. I believe that we all are our brother's and sister's keeper? we each have a responsibility to share the load, as Samwise Gamgee did for Frodo, in the movie, Lord of the Rings.

To those who are new to my blog, you will find I never miss an opportunity to reference one of my favorite movies, The Lord of the Rings. There you have it. Go forth and be of service to yourselves and your neighbors.

Please post any decisions you've made in your commitment to serve.

It's that time of year again, when parents dig deep to help their children put the final pieces and accessories together to complete the first week back to school outfits. I can't help but ponder the fuss my kids make over preparing for school. They fuss about what they'll wear-uniforms, their shoes-the only colors allowed are black, brown, blue and sneakers for P.E., not much room for fashionista cares or guy's wear, but they fuss as if they have choices.
Once all the preparations have been made and the big day arrives, one can't help but smile at the sharpness in their appearance, or at the little sparkle in their smile, and the weird look of excited confusion across their little faces.
For me that means only one thing, its time to grab my camera. For those of you who would like to capture that fresh first back to school look, here's a special offer for you.

How about a $35.00 back to school photoshoot of your child(ren) for a limited time.

Access the website at www.frobinphotography.com to contact us about scheduling your child(ren)'s photoshoot.

Offer expires September 15, 2009 and is available to our facebook fans, blog followers and school age kids only.

Taking it all in

I've had an awesome summer visiting friends, the city and family. I thought it selfish of me to not share with you. The only thing that beats spending time with my family and friends, is spending time with family and friends while enjoying anything caribbean. Living in close proximity to the District of Columbia (DC), I sometimes take for granted all there is to enjoy, the one thing that I almost never miss is the opportunity to enjoy the caribbean carnival. Carnival: A Sea of people masquerading in the streets dressed in the most amazing costumes displaying a combination of the brightest colors known. I almost never miss an opportunity to visit some of the best caribbean restaurants and bakeries.
Of-course, whenever I am in the city, I make every effort to visit museums and monuments with the children. Now that I have your attention, I would like to share the photos with you. enjoy.

Inspiration

My source of inspiration comes from past experiences, mistakes and the wonders that surrounds me, but my main source of inspiration comes from my children. Their curiousity, attitudes, pleasures in the simple things, and the support they've shown during my transition into full time photography. My daughter has so inspired me with the interest she has taken in what I do that she is a contributer to this post.
Like my mom, I enjoy being a part of her photography business. Whether it is posing for her to take my picture or helping her with her different photoshoots, there is never a dull moment. I enjoy watching her in her element with people and seeing her do what makes her happy makes me happy. I also enjoy seeing that she gets to participate in other family's special moments. I enjoy her love for people and the lengths she will go to make sure that they are comfortable. I believe that God has truly blessed her photography business and that He will keep blessing her.

Day one

I've been asked over and over to create a blog to keep you informed with what's happening and new with me. I've resisted as I was uncertain if I'd be able to commit, but here I am on day one writing my first post. As I am new to blogging, naturally, I proceed with extreme caution until I become more familiar.

I am currently on a new path exploring life in a new season as a photographer. Photography is not new to me as i've been capturing images since childhood. It is only now as an adult that I've decided to pursue it professionally. I am reminded with each session just how amazing and awe inspriing it is to be a photographer. I get an opportunity to share your life for moments at a time as you allow me to capture the happy, sad, inquisitive and curious faces of your children; to experience young love expressed only the way new love can, to see wisdom and knowing expressed in images that words can't, and to share private moments with expectant families.

I look forward to where this path leads on this exciting journey in this season of my life.
